Sullivan Stewart School of Irish Dance
About Us
My name is Deirdre Stewart, and I am a certified TCRG (Irish dance teacher). I established the Sullivan Stewart School of Irish Dance over 25 years ago. I also have a Ph.D. in biochemistry and am very passionate about learning. When teaching, I strive to create an environment where my students can develop a love of Irish dance and work toward achieving their goals. I believe in the importance of creating a comfortable, friendly environment where all students feel safe and respected, prioritizing kindness and support between our students above all else.
Irish dance has played an extremely important role in my life and has been passed down in my family for generations. Just as my mother inspired me to take Irish dancing, I now teach my two daughters, who also assist me during various classes. Today, I am able to share this art form with my students, teaching them skills and passing on the tradition.
I teach at our Plainville studio along with my co-teacher, Jodi Cook-Johns, TCRG, and our workshop teacher, Karly Peacock, TCRG, from Belfast. We aspire to help all of our dancers reach their personal goals by instilling in them the importance of hard work and dedication and prioritizing the friendships and the bonds they form with their teachers and peers. Part of what makes Irish dance so special to me is the memories I made with the people throughout my Irish dance journey. Now, I try to pass down to my students the values that have been instilled in me, helping them form their own memories, friendships, and love of Irish dance.
